Simple Rules to Make 2014 Your Healthiest and Leanest

1 Jan

Happy New Year Superstars! It’s crazy to think that another year has come and gone. Time flies by so that’s why it’s important that you live this life you dream about now! Getting in shape and staying in shape is an ongoing challenge, but I am going to share with you ten simple rules that the fittest bodies in the world live by. If you stay true to these principles, you will be successful.

1. Do something active every day, whether it’s walking, going to a gym, swimming, cycling, dancing, cleaning, having sex. Get your body moving vigorously!

2. Love greens. Make salads, broccoli, asparagus, kale, spinach and have something green at every meal. I put spinach in every shake I make and it has virtually no flavor.

3. Eat bread sparingly. Most breads has a lot of sodium, carbohydrates, and wheat so unless you are running a marathon, your body doesn’t really need it.

4. Change your routine every 4-6 weeks. Your body gets used to doing the same thing every day. Add intervals, plyometrics, hot yoga, weights, core training, or a different type of cardio to continue to see results.

5. Avoid added sugar. Eat natural sources of sugar when you want something sweet like an apple or banana, but avoid candy, pies, and other junk. It does nothing positive for your body except give you a quick burst of energy.

6. Make your own meals. In today’s world, people are often so busy that they don’t take time to sit down and eat as a family anymore. Take time each week to prepare your meals to avoid the excess fat, sodium, and calories of restaurant meals or fast food.

7. Do strength, weight, and flexibility workouts to build your endurance, increase your metabolism, and keep you from getting injured.

8. Spend your time with active people. If you have active play dates, you are more likely to stay active. If your friends always want to go out to eat, you will probably spend a lot of time eating.

9. Don’t let your weight go up higher than 5% of your body weight. For many people who retain water, 5% could be water weight but anything higher than that becomes difficult to lose.

10. INO-It’s Not an Option. Stick true to your morals and values. If you are trying to lose weight to get stronger and you see a big fat piece of cheesecake, think to yourself, it’s not an option and you won’t have to spend the rest of the day craving it. Besides, do you really want to be wearing that cheese cake or a Herve Ledger dress? Just saying…

Every moment is an opportunity for you to create the life you dream about. So go ahead and make 2014 YOUR year. Make it your time to shine! What are you waiting for?

I will be showcasing all the new workouts this week, so stay tune….Off to teach class
